ok so i took the boring snowy birch picture and added some character to it 
i just re read 'daughter of the forest' by juliet marillier and of course, remember how great of a book that is and immediately had to draw someone from it. So that's where this came from!
This is just an interpretation of Sorcha's brothers returning on midwinter's eve....
I painted the background, the cut and glued birch bark to the canvas. Then I drew and watercolored Sorcha and the swans and then glued/modge podged them on as well. And added some snow for effect...
