i read some tree lore the other day, and how each tree has either a feminine or a masculine 'herb' and they each have a bird, colors, qualities, etc. and so i got kind of intrigued.
so this is the birch tree, (a winter tree) and the celtic name is beth, and the bird is a pheasant.
Love the birches! There's a Lithuanian myth about a woman named Egle (that means fir tree) and her children--Azuolas (oak), Uosis (ash), Berzas (birch), and Drebule (trembling poplar). When her husband dies, the grieving Egle and her children transform into trees.
thats aaaaaweeesome. i love stories like that. they make my mind go into overdrive and come up with all these awesome drawings. (of course, they are all in my head, and my head and my hand are learning to work together to actually get those ideas onto paper!!)
